My GGGGG Grandfather Jacob Sholtes was born at Berne (Albany County), NY on May 12, 1761. He fought in the Revolutionary War and bought the farm located in the village of Knox in 1786. The barn was built in 1800. His son Jacob Ira Shoultes (1798-1856) moved to Tioga County and settled at Newark Valley in 1825. He died at Knox on February 1, 1852 at the age of 90.
